Funny how this works

Me, 2007: “UGH, why would I ever use pthreads? It’s so pointless! And C programming sucks!”

Me, 2012: *Programming a multithreaded server using pthreads, in my spare time*

Having played the recent demo, I felt that having a basic attack command doesn't seem pretty viable (case in point, Andoru's basic attack and Stab skill are essentially the same with very minor differences). Is that kind of game mechanic decision intended?

Yes, it’s intentional. Though they are similar, their similarity is only because I didn’t get around to doing proper animations for it. The reason I’ve implemented it that way is to discourage the mash-enter-through-battles behavior and the use-powerful-skill-every-turn behavior in one blow. Once fleshed out in future chapters, it will be a balancing act with a bit more strategy than most turn-based RPGs. If I do it correctly. :)

1. I’m giving away free 11x17 posters this year, but which piece of art would you prefer—A or B?
2. Will any of you be attending fanime? (I’ll have plenty to give away there!!)

It’s minor, but SU.com v2 is swapping from server-side sessions to full-fledged cookies. Late as hell I know.

C++ client -> sends data to my java server -> writes data to the mysql database -> is read by php pages on my server

If I can pull this off it will be really cool!

Entranse Studios: Release!

I hope you enjoy it! I’ll write a formal changelog/post when I get some rest. Thanks for your support. It means a lot!

I loved it!

I had a couple suggestions/questions as well.:D

The font- it looks awesome, but I…

I’m not sure if this is the best way to reply, but I have a bit to say so this is probably the best. ;)

1. The font needs to be manually installed. I was going to create an installer to automatically do it, but I ran out of time. (On the bright side it was the first time I stuck to a release deadline!) To do that, just drop Starless.fon into C:\Windows\Fonts — that should fix your font issue. :)

2. I get those flashes too and it seems to be a win 7 compatibility issue. However, I can eliminate the black flashes by closing any background applications that “animate”—things like media players, torrent clients, web browsers maybe even (including items in the taskbar maybe?). You might try doing the same. Or, go for alt + enter to switch to windowed mode (a bit more lag possibly)

3. Regarding the 90%—the tutorial is rather short but just to clarify, there’s your focus (indicated by the target symbol and a percentage) and your EP, which is that bar with the blue notches that accumulate when you attack. When Clydan’s focus goes above 90%—the numbers next to the target icon— a battle event should occur (if not then this is a bug :))

4. If you talk to the villagers outside, one gives you some potions and comments that “you should try to use food outside of battle to recover health”—it’s not immediately obvious but I do agree that the amount of healing items you get early on is quite limited, and I might have to do something like include a small shop npc to sell you some potions early on. I’m not too sure yet.

I appreciate the tremendous amount of feedback—seriously it helps me out a bunch. Thank you!!
